Thumbelina is a tiny girl that grew from a seed in a tall tulip bud. She had a walnut shell for a bed and a rose petal for a blanket. One day she is kidnapped by a toad to be a wife for his son. As she escapes she encounters mice, moles and birds as she searches for people like herself.
This timeless story by Hans Christian Andersen of Denmark is delightfully illustrated by Elsa Beskow of Sweden.
