Trio of Watchful Tomtar

Tomtar (Swedish) and Nisser (Norwegian) are domestic sprites---solitary and mischievous but hard-working and beneficial to humans from whom they maintain a respectful distance. Traditionally protectors of the farmstead and farm animals, they ask little more than a generous bowl of cream porridge (rømmegrøt) with butter for payment.
