Nils

Nils is a lanky American boy who dreams of becoming a cowboy. When his grandmother in Norway sends him a pair of handknit stockings, he is excited to wear them to school, but is teased by the other boys and then, embarrassed by his gift, gets into a fight. Who had ever heard of a Norwegian cowboy? But he learns the joy in being unique, and is proud to wear his Norwegian stockings, which are warm and cozy.
