Four years have passed since Cecilia Karlsson disappeared from the island of Gräsö in Roslagen. When a tip is received that she has been seen alive, Ann Lindell has to get involved, though she is no longer with the police. Nils Lindberg has never forgotten Cecilia, whom he loved a a teenager. And he carries a secret. He knows what he saw out on the bay just before she disappeared. And her parents are desperate, not knowing what happened. Yet there's more to it. Ann is trying to establish a new life for herself with her lover. At the same time, someone is hiding in a cottage in a remote part of the island, someone who is looking for revenge.
