Henning Milk Maid and her Goat
Norway’s Henning Woodcarvers celebrate gjetost (goat cheese) with their ever-popular Goat-Milking Girl. Hand-carved and painted. 5½”
Henning Engelsen carved his first wooden figures in 1947 and the following year, founded Henning. After a workshop was built in the idyllic village of Kapp, and employees hired, the business grew steadily and became one of the leading Norwegian souvenir makers. Henning contributed to the tradition of Norwegian carving and continues to take inspiration from nature and folklore. Engelsen remained the creative source for Henning throughout his life and passed the business on to his three daughters.
