Henning Prillarguri
The Henning carving portraying Prillarguri in wood. It is the story of a woman named Guri who blew a prillarhorn to warn the Norwegian peasant militia of the oncoming Scottish army. The army was making their way through Gudbrandsdal on their way to Sweden to enlist in the Kalmar War against Denmark and Norway. She played a key role in the successful ambush of the Scottish army. 6.75"
Henning Engelsen carved his first wooden figures in 1947 and the following year, founded Henning. After a workshop was built in the idyllic village of Kapp, and employees hired, the business grew steadily and became one of the leading Norwegian souvenir makers. Henning contributed to the tradition of Norwegian carving and continues to take inspiration from nature and folklore. Engelsen remained the creative source for Henning throughout his life and passed the business on to his three daughters.
