2015 marks the 150th birthday of Finland’s most prestigious composer, Jean Sibelius. Hear two of his symphonies - deeply individual and heartfelt music both romantic and modern in style - performed so beautifully that this CD was awarded a GRAMMY. Finnish-born director Osmo Vänskä and the Orchestra recorded the two symphonies at Minneapolis’ Orchestra Hall. The enclosed booklet includes comprehensive information about Jean Sibelius (1865-1957) and the music.
